Monthly bookkeeping
Know where the books stand every month, on a schedule.
A close calendar, reconciled accounts, consistent classification, and a statement package that arrives on a date you can plan around, with a named accountant who knows your business.

The problem
Late books are a decision problem.
When the close has no date, the numbers arrive after the decisions. You price the next job, hire the next tech, and buy the next truck on a bank balance instead of a margin.
Classification drifts when nobody owns it. The same cost lands in three accounts across three months and reporting quietly stops meaning anything.
Reconciliation gets skipped in a busy season, and a skipped month becomes a small cleanup by the time anyone notices.
A single person holding the whole process is a risk. When they are out, sick, or gone, the close stops.
Evidence
A closed month is not the norm as fast as owners assume.
50%
of finance teams take six or more business days to close a month
27%
need more than seven business days, so results land well into the following month
What our team does
The monthly cycle, every month, in the same order.
Continuous during the month
Transactions reviewed and classified against a documented convention, not by guesswork. Questions asked while the answer is still fresh, not in March.
Reconcile everything
Bank, credit card, loan, merchant, and payroll clearing accounts reconciled and evidenced. Differences are researched, not carried.
Support the balance sheet
Prepaid, accrual, deferred revenue, loan, and payroll liability schedules updated so the balance sheet stays supportable month over month.
Close on the calendar date
The period is locked, adjusting entries posted, and the file is closed so history stops moving underneath your reports.
Deliver and explain
Profit and loss, balance sheet, cash summary, and the comparisons that matter for your business, plus a short written note on what changed and why.
Review with your team
A recurring call at the cadence in your scope. The goal is decisions taken, not statements admired.
Included
What monthly bookkeeping includes.
Every engagement is written down. A standard monthly scope includes the following.
- All accounts reconciled monthly with evidence saved to your portal
- Documented classification conventions so coding is consistent between months and people
- Balance sheet schedules maintained, not rebuilt at year end
- A published close calendar with a delivery date you can plan around
- Standard statement package with prior period and year to date comparison
- A written month note explaining material movement
- A named lead accountant plus a reviewer, so the close does not depend on one person
- Year end package prepared for your tax professional
Handled separately:
- Tax return preparation and filing, handled by your tax professional
- Payroll processing itself, though we reconcile it and can manage the provider relationship when it is in scope
- Cleanup of prior periods, which is quoted as its own fixed price project

A close that lands on a date is worth more than a perfect close that lands late.
Dependability is the product. Owners can work with a number that arrives on the twelfth every month. They cannot work with a number that arrives whenever the books get attention.

Questions
What owners ask about this work.
When do we get our reports each month?
Your close calendar sets the date and it does not move. The date depends on how fast third party data arrives, so it is agreed in the scope rather than promised generically.
Do you work in our software?
Yes. Our team supports all major accounting platforms. Digits is our preferred platform for new engagements because of how it handles review and classification, but we will not force a change that does not help you.
What if our books need cleanup first?
Then we start there. Monthly work on an unreliable opening balance just produces reliable looking nonsense.
Who actually does the work?
A named lead accountant runs your file with a reviewer above them. You are not routed to whoever is free.
Can you also handle bill pay and collections?
Yes, as scoped work. See payables and receivables.
